Ilitaqsiniq - Nunavut Literacy Council

Ilitaqsiniq – Nunavut Literacy Council promotes and supports literacy initiatives in the official languages of Nunavut with respect for the principals of community capacity building and development. Their members include adult educators, literacy practitioners, Government of Nunavut departments and policy makers, non-profit organizations, schools, libraries, and individuals. Ilitaqsiniq programs weave together culture-based learning with language, literacy and essential skills. Ilitaqsiniq has proudly contributed to making real, substantial differences in the lives of children, youth, adults and families – and local communities – throughout the territory. Their programs are tailored to community needs and delivered in partnership with a range of committed funders and community champions. Program categories include Early Learning & Engaged Caregiving, sewing & cultural industries, Food & harvesting programs, Employment and Economic Development and more.
