About

The Toronto Ward Museum is a community-engaged museum that facilitates the preservation and sharing of personal stories of migrants in Toronto’s history. Toronto Ward Museum is a museum without walls. It challenges traditional understandings of history through its focus on interactive and event based programming, which will seek to connect visitors to each other, local communities and the physical infrastructure of the City. Through its programming the museum will create opportunities for communities of newcomers to work together to discover, express and share their experiences of migration. Emphasizing collaborations with newcomer communities in the development and delivery of its programming will be critical to the museum’s success. As an institution it will also strive to create an inclusive space that provides opportunities for expression, learning, and civic engagement for all.
