Schlegel Villages

Schlegel Villages manages quality long-term care and retirement Villages across Ontario. They offer student placements and volunteering opportunities. Schlegel Villages partners with the Schlegel-UW Research Institute for Aging (RIA) to drive research and innovation that benefits Village life. The partnership explores the aging process across various theme areas, such as: Brain Health, Heart Health, Nutrition, Training and Education, and Technology for Independent Living. The research findings/outcomes are used to create or improve programs, policies, education and training. Their Wilfred Schlegel Hope Fund is a benevolent fund, voluntarily paid into by team members through payroll deduction, which in turn is matched by the Schlegel family. The funds are then allocated on an “as needed” basis, as decided by a committee of team members and leaders who assess individual requests. The Wilfred Schlegel Hope Fund was established to ensure that funds would be available to match the spirit of
