North East Association for Community Living (NEACL)

North East Association for Community Living (NEACL) includes the Cochrane District and spans from Cochrane to Opasatika. It is a non-profit provincial association that advocates for people with an intellectual disability. They provide Advocacy, Family & Youth Engagement, Student Links Mentoring and aide with employment. Cochrane District provides the Supported Employment Program provides support to individuals to find full time and part time employment assists employers in accessing available wage subsidies; provides recruitment, job searching services, job analysis, on the job training and job support; continues to provide support to the; employer/co-workers, as well as to the new employee once the training is complete; and maintains regular visits to the job site to evaluate the employee’s performance and to discuss any concerns or any new job skills that may arise. Several of their chapters also provide services in French and Inuktitut.
