About
Blk Women in Excellence (BWIE) is a not for profit organization that supports the education and empowerment of Black Women in Nova Scotia to be self-employed in sustainable businesses. The organization encourages and educates Black women entrepreneurs through workshops and seminars; community partnerships and engagement; coaching calls and mentorship initiatives. They deliver entrepreneur start-up programs and mentorship initiatives. This training, along with networking and other supports, such as the BWIE Pitch Competitions help women to get their businesses started and to keep them going despite financial and other challenges - including the realities of a Pandemic and systemic racism. In addition, the organization has established partnerships with various community organizations including the Mulgrave Park Tenants Association, Delmore Buddy Daye Institute, Canadian International Women of Excellence (Ontario), Connecture (Ontario) Tribe Network, Common Good Solutions, Black Cultur
