The Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in government ensures a strong and healthy future for citizens while maintaining connections to traditional knowledge and the land. The Human Resources, Education and Training Department helps citizens access funding and opportunities related to employment, education and training. Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in funds about 75 citizens for post-secondary studies, close to 100 citizens for short-term training courses, and creates and funds 15 to 20 jobs for citizens each year. Offering programs such as the work opportunity program, which provides pre-employment training and mentoring to help them develop the necessary work and life skills to succeed in the workforce. Teaching and Working Farm: Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in collaborates with Yukon University to operate a Teaching and Working Farm. This initiative focuses on northern greenhouse crop growing and seasonal on-the-land crop cultivation.
