City of Hamilton is actively engaged in making Hamilton a better place for everyone. It is creating an accessible environment, supporting residents through all of life’s stages, and one that encourages positive development of children as they grow towards becoming healthy adults and seniors. Ontario Works Hamilton provides temporary financial and employment assistance for people who are in financial need. This service is open for those over 18 and also youth under the age of 18. These benefits include helping pay for job start-up costs like work attire and tools, and daycare. Neighbourhood Development is part of the Children’s Services and Neighbourhood Development Division of the Healthy and Safe Communities Department. They offers services such as the Xperience Annex which supports youth ages 18-29 to create pathways to community services and employment. The urban farm to address food insecurity in the McQuesten neighbourhood, empowering residents with access to fresh food, food security and job opportunities.
