About
The Fairness Commissioner assesses the registration practices of certain regulated professions and trades to make sure they are transparent, objective, impartial and fair for anyone applying to practise his or her profession in Ontario. The Office of the Fairness Commissioner works for positive, systemic change based on a solid foundation of research in the areas of Assessment of Registration Practices, Academic Requirements and Canadian Work Experience. The Fairness Commissioner’s mandate is to ensure that the regulatory bodies covered by Ontario’s fair-access legislation have registration practices that are transparent, objective, impartial and fair. The office of the Fairness Commissioner conducts education and outreach activities with regulatory bodies on their fair-access obligations. It also advises and influences them to continuously improve their practices.
