Social economy Bas-Saint-Laurent is a consultation and networking organization whose mission is to promote collective entrepreneurship and the social economy as vectors of regional development. Currently bringing together more than 160 collective enterprises — cooperatives and non-profit organizations — located in the eight MRCs of Bas-Saint-Laurent, Economie sociale Bas-Saint-Laurent offers information and training, consulting and support services. referral to front-line services (CLD, SOPER, MRC-which accompany and support business start-ups and development and financial support from the Regional Social Economy Investment Fund (FRIÉS). The social economy is strongly linked to the economic and social development of Bas-Saint-Laurent. More than 330 social economy companies generate economic activity of more than $900 million and $130 million in salaries throughout the Lower Laurentian region for 3,000 full-time and 2,600 part-time jobs. Social economy Bas-Saint-Laurent brings together and represents Bas-Saint-Laurent businesses in this constantly growing economic sector, which focuses first and foremost on values such as the primacy of people, democratic management, social benefits and direct economic issues in the environment, sustainable development, respect for the environment and individual and collective care.
