The Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU) is responsible for the delivery of local public health programs and services, carried out in collaboration with other organizations in the health system and in partnership with municipal governments and community partners. The Young Adult Centre (YAC) is a drop-in centre where individuals can talk to a public health nurse about any health-related issue. Individuals can get one-on-one counseling on birth control, sexuality, relationships, lifestyle, life skills issues, as well as STI counseling and testing. YAC also provides individuals with a number of birth control options. Additionally, EOHU programs include health education and promotion, school and workplace health programs, and monitoring and surveillance programs. They also provide public health inspections, food and water safety, health hazard prevention, and emergency preparedness. They offer innovative health communications through media channels for public health.
