theSpace

theSpace is a community gathering place for individuals with Austism and Intellectual Disabilities.Their vision is to fashion a social initiative based upon a relational approach --supporting the development of individual identity through doing. They organize creative workshops to help persons with disabilities learn new skills. Participants are exposed to a wide range of tech, production and animation. theSpace also supports individuals who are often not fully represented or given a voice to express personal agency within so many mainstream programs--introducing an approach which instead moves away from traditional notions of 'a job', and toward an embodiment of more broad forms of social citizenship and identity.
