GMIST is committed to advancing the quality and success of tourism operators in Atlantic Canada through developing and offering a diverse range of training opportunities. Our training programs focus on experiential learning while respecting sustainable tourism practices and emphasize strong community development principles. GMIST aims to build capacity throughout the region to assist operators in reaching new markets and to support diversification and development of traditional and non-traditional tourism offerings. Through sharing information, best practices and models and peer-to-peer learning, GMIST helps to advance the overall quality of tourism offerings throughout Atlantic Canada. GMIST takes a strengths-based approach and believes that community is the foundation of sustainable development.
