Canadian Centre for Victims or Torture (CCVT)

The Canadian Centre for Victims of Torture (CCVT) aids survivors in overcoming the lasting effects of torture and war. In partnership with the community, the centre supports survivors in the process of successful integration into Canadian society, works for their protection and integrity and raises awareness of the continuing effects of torture and war on survivors and their families. Their English Language and Skills Training Program at CCVT is designed specifically for survivors of torture and war trauma. They also offer Basic Computer Skills like touch-typing, Microsoft Office, and Internet skills, combined with cash-register training, which helps newcomers become qualified for jobs in the retail sector.
